PLC Public Sector has published a new article on the government's consultation on open standards in public procurement written by Elisabetta Rotondo of Kemp Little LLP, see Article, UK government's Open Standards Consultation: a step in the wrong direction? (www.practicallaw.com/8-519-3339).

The article:

  • Looks at the government's proposed definition of open standards as requiring them to be available at zero cost.
  • Argues that this is the wrong approach from a commercial perspective and also a breach of EU law and policy.
