London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Amendment) Bill introduced to Parliament

The London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Amendment) Bill was introduced to Parliament on 16 March 2011. (Free access.)

The government has introduced a Bill into Parliament to make a number of technical changes to the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act 2006. The Bill will implement certain advertising and trading, ticket touting and traffic management measures in the Act. In particular, the Bill will increase the maximum penalty for the illegal selling of 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games (the Games) tickets, from £5,000 to £20,000, and will implement the rules on advertising and trading in the vicinity of the Games which the government is currently consulting on, see Legal update, UK governments consult on advertising regulation around 2012 Olympics (www.practicallaw.com/0-505-0495). The date for second reading is yet to be announced.
