These terms apply to any question, answer, comment or any other material submitted to Ask.
These rules are the terms of use for Ask operated by Practical Law Company Limited. These rules supplement the Terms for Practical Law Company services from 1 September 2010 (www.practicallaw.com/3-503-2117), the Terms of use for Discussion Forums, Blogs and Wikis (www.practicallaw.com/5-382-3064) and privacy policy (www.practicallaw.com/3-386-5597) applicable to Practical Law Company's website www.practicallaw.com (together, the Rules).
The Rules apply to all users. Any submission of a question, reply or any other material by you to Ask means that you accept and agree to abide by all the terms and conditions of these Rules.
References to a "post" or "posts" include questions, replies or any other submission to Ask.
Practical Law Company will consider questions within the current scope of the relevant web service. Practical Law Company will endeavour to respond to questions as soon as possible but is under no obligation to respond to a question. Generally, a question will be answered within one working day of the question being submitted. Practical Law Company tries to be as helpful as possible but because of constraints on time, our editors are normally unable to spend more than an hour on any particular question. (If the question is a specialist question and the editor(s) with the relevant expertise are not available, Practical Law Company may take longer than one working day to answer your question. In some cases, longer delays may occur owing to the non-availability of specialist editors for unavoidable reasons.) Questions and answers may be published to the Practical Law Company website.
Practical Law Company reserves the right, at its discretion, to edit, remove (in whole or in part) or republish any post. If a post contains information or a link that Practical Law Company considers should not be published, Practical Law Company is entitled to remove the information that it considers should not be published. The remainder of the post may then be published by Practical Law Company. Where a post has been removed (in whole or in part), subsequent posts referring to the offending post may also be removed.
Unless we state otherwise, replies to questions will be based on English law.
Practical Law Company's employees are not practising solicitors or barristers.
Users are encouraged to ask questions via Ask. Replies may be provided by Practical Law Company or any other Ask user.
Questions must be asked using the Ask Question form, which is available via the "Ask a question" link on the top navigation bar and also in the "Actions" box on the right-hand side of each resource. (The "Ask a question" link replaces the "Contact the team" link in the "Actions" box).
Before submitting a question, use the search feature to check that your question has not already been answered on the Practical Law Company site.
You must not provide any confidential information to Practical Law Company, including any details that might identify a matter or parties to it.
Your question must be a general question about the law and/or practice. You should not seek legal advice.
By submitting a question you agree that it (together with any follow up correspondence on the question) may be published by Practical Law Company on its websites where it will be available for view and comment by all Practical Law Company users. Your question will be published anonymously. Your question may be moderated and amended before publication (including the addition of a title).
Any response to a question is not legal advice. No lawyer-client relationship is created between the person asking the question and the person answering it or between the person asking the question and Practical Law Company. Where appropriate, those asking questions should consult their own lawyers for legal advice.
The views in any post submitted by someone other than an employee of Practical Law Company, are those of the person who submitted it.
Users are encouraged to reply to questions raised by other users that are posted on Ask and to add further comment to existing posts.
Posts must be made using the "Add reply" form at the end of each Ask resource. You must be logged in with your individual password to post a reply.
